A Recap of the 2025 OCA Annual and Special Meeting of Members (AGM)

On November 29, 2025, we hosted our AGM at the Globe and Mail Centre in Toronto, as part of the OCA’s annual Member Recognition Day. The event brought together over 140 in-person members and their guests. The AGM buzzed with energy as guests enjoyed their three-course lunch while listening to important business updates from the OCA.
  • Caroline Brereton, our CEO kicked off the meeting by presenting the OCA’s executive officers and members who served on the board this past year. She also shared her reflections on the OCA’s strategic leadership and in 2024-2025 that contributed to the association reaching new milestones while successfully launching initiatives to support members, practices, and patients.
  • Janet D’Arcy, chair of the board, went over the agenda for the meeting after a video from Ontario’s Health Minister and Deputy Premier Sylvia Jones was played with an encouraging message on our profession.
  • Tony Anziano covered which board members stood for re-election. Congratulations to Drs. Sophia da Silva-Oolup, Paolo De Ciantis, Brian Gleberzon, Jenna Macfarlane, Anjelica Mazzella, and Carol Ann Weis, who were elected to the OCA Board of Directors.
  • Anziano also announced the approval of the revised general by-law relating generally to the conduct of the affairs of the OCA, a blacklined copy of which is set out in Schedule A.
  • Paolo De Ciantos delivered the treasurer’s report, outlining the financial health of our association. He also noted key new initiatives that the OCA launched this past year to deliver value to its members, including Chiro Cart and Career Transition Advisory Council.
  • Patricia Tavares, chair of the OCA’s Research and Knowledge Translation Committee, detailed how the OCA is advancing knowledge translation in chiropractic care and continues to focus on patient outcomes as a key indicator to advance the profession.
  • Tavares also welcomed Dr. John Srbely, DC, PhD to the stage to speak to the value that data from Aspire can bring to advance the work of researchers and the profession even further.
  • To close off the meeting, Dr. Ken Brough, chair of Aspire provided an update on the software solution, including progress made this past year and the launch of the Aspire Strategic Advisory Council.
  • The meeting officially ended with several thoughtful questions from the audience.

2025 Annual and Special Meeting of Members

Pursuant to the By-law of the Ontario Chiropractic Association (“OCA”), notice is hereby given that the 2025 Annual and Special Meeting (“Annual Meeting”) of the members of the Ontario Chiropractic Association (the “OCA”) will be held in-person at the Globe and Mail Centre, 351 King Street East, Toronto, Ontario, Level 17 and virtually via the following link:  https://meetings.lumiconnect.com/400-984-651-411 on Saturday, November 29. 2025 at 12:45 p.m. to conduct the following business:

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and the AGM will begin at 12:45 p.m.
To purchase tickets to attend the lunch please be sure to register to “attend in person” below.
The purpose of the meeting is to achieve the following:
  • To receive a report from the chair of the Governance Committee. This report will address the proposed changes to the general by-law along with the processes followed by the board to enact such changes.
  • To consider and approve the revised general by-law relating generally to the conduct of the affairs of the OCA, a blacklined copy of which is set out in Schedule “A” attached to this Notice;
  • To receive the OCA’s audited financial statements for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2025, a copy of which is available to members upon request at the registered office, in accordance with Section 5 of the OCA By-laws;
  • To appoint BDO Canada, LLP as public accountant of OCA at a remuneration to be fixed by the directors who are authorized to fix such remuneration;
  • To elect directors to the Board of Directors of OCA as a slate. The list of directors shall be distributed to the members no later than November 17, 2025.
    If the vote for the election of the directors as a slate does not pass, then each of the nominated directors will be voted on individually.
  • To transact such further and other business as may properly come before the meeting or any adjournment or adjournments thereof.

Please note, registration is only open to OCA members in good standing.
If you’ve already registered for the 2025 Member Recognition Day, you’re automatically registered to attend the AGM.
All OCA members are urged to attend the Annual Meeting. Members who may not be able to attend the Annual Meeting may sign and return a proxy form, to be distributed to the members no later than November 17, 2025, to OCA by Friday, November 28, 2025 or by depositing the proxy with an officer of OCA on the day of the Annual Meeting up to the commencement of the Annual Meeting at the discretion of the Chair of the meeting.  Delivery can be effected by email to Deborah Gibson – governance@chiropractic.on.ca.
