A Recap of the 2025 OCA Annual and Special Meeting of Members (AGM)
On November 29, 2025, we hosted our AGM at the Globe and Mail Centre in Toronto, as part of the OCA’s annual Member Recognition Day. The event brought together over 140 in-person members and their guests. The AGM buzzed with energy as guests enjoyed their three-course lunch while listening to important business updates from the OCA.
Caroline Brereton, our CEO kicked off the meeting by presenting the OCA’s executive officers and members who served on the board this past year. She also shared her reflections on the OCA’s strategic leadership and in 2024-2025 that contributed to the association reaching new milestones while successfully launching initiatives to support members, practices, and patients.
Janet D’Arcy, chair of the board, went over the agenda for the meeting after a video from Ontario’s Health Minister and Deputy Premier Sylvia Jones was played with an encouraging message on our profession.
Tony Anziano covered which board members stood for re-election. Congratulations to Drs. Sophia da Silva-Oolup, Paolo De Ciantis, Brian Gleberzon, Jenna Macfarlane, Anjelica Mazzella, and Carol Ann Weis, who were elected to the OCA Board of Directors.
Anziano also announced the approval of the revised general by-law relating generally to the conduct of the affairs of the OCA, a blacklined copy of which is set out in Schedule A.
Paolo De Ciantos delivered the treasurer’s report, outlining the financial health of our association. He also noted key new initiatives that the OCA launched this past year to deliver value to its members, including Chiro Cart and Career Transition Advisory Council.
Patricia Tavares, chair of the OCA’s Research and Knowledge Translation Committee, detailed how the OCA is advancing knowledge translation in chiropractic care and continues to focus on patient outcomes as a key indicator to advance the profession.
Tavares also welcomed Dr. John Srbely, DC, PhD to the stage to speak to the value that data from Aspire can bring to advance the work of researchers and the profession even further.
To close off the meeting, Dr. Ken Brough, chair of Aspire provided an update on the software solution, including progress made this past year and the launch of the Aspire Strategic Advisory Council.
The meeting officially ended with several thoughtful questions from the audience.
