About the OCA Career Transition Advisory Council

The OCA Career Transition Advisory Council was created to better understand the needs and interests of Ontario Chiropractors as they near retirement, as well as understand how we can better address these needs. Giving career transitioning chiropractors a voice through this advisory council will provide the OCA with meaningful feedback about current initiatives, and valuable ideas for future projects. The council will participate in OCA initiatives in an advisory capacity, share their ideas, and give advice on ways to improve and develop better later career supports and relations.

The council’s purpose is to:

• Allow chiropractors nearing retirement from across the province to give meaningful input on association decisions and initiatives that affect them;
• Help the OCA improve and develop better member supports during their career and to prepare their personal and professional live for the unique challenges and opportunities during the late stage of practice;
• How they would like to contribute to the profession after retirement; and
• Provide participants with an opportunity to learn about and become engaged in the work of the organizations that shape the future of the profession.
  • To attend virtual meetings on an as needed basis
  • Actively participate in the activities of the Advisory Council
  • Leverage experiences and expertise required to fulfill the initiative’s mandate
  • Interact with other Council members to provide comprehensive and well-coordinated responses
  • Engage with other members of the profession on certain topic only as required

Council members commit to a minimum of four virtual meetings throughout the year. Attendance at the inaugural meeting is mandatory for all council members. Further meetings will be scheduled on an as needed basis.

  • Virtual meetings, other than the inaugural meeting, will only require quorum (greater than 50% attendance) to proceed
  • Input may be requested for documents etc. via email from time to time

The OCA Career Transition Advisory Council is expected to be an ad hoc committee, convened between May 2025 and May 2026. Council members commit to participate on the committee for the full one-year term. The OCA may extend the period of the council at its discretion as needed. Council members may elect to remain on the council if the term is extended.
