Allevio Pain Management is looking for an enthusiastic, evidence-based chiropractor to join our growing team. Allevio is an integrated, multidisciplinary chronic pain management facility using the most advanced, evidence-based medical practices and combining them with traditional, effective and supportive health care services.

Our team of anaesthesiologists, physiatrists and nurses, work in seamless integration with our chiropractors, osteopath, occupational therapists, physiotherapist and nutritionist to provide comprehensive care to our population of patients coping with chronic pain. Our services include a vast array of advanced medical and paramedical procedures including: epidural injection, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, lidocaine infusions, stellate ganglion blocks, cortisone joint injection, platelet rich plasma therapy, prolotherapy, stem cell injection, botox injection, low level laser therapy, electro/acupuncture, electrotherapy, ultrasound and shockwave. Our paramedical team are also effective providers for bracing, orthotics, compression therapies, kinesiotaping and assistive device management. Patients at Allevio also have access to several integrated, comprehensive programs for spinal stenosis, spinal instabilities, adhesive capsulitis, chronic regional pain syndrome, orthopedic knee injury and migraines.

A successful candidate is required to be:

  • A graduate of a recognized post secondary program in chiropractic
  • A licensed and registered member in good standing with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario
  • Carry appropriate liability insurance (CCPA or other)
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification is an asset
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian/Ontario Chiropractic Association
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible with approach and thinking
  • Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Able to generate new solutions and develop creative improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy
  • Respecting patient confidentiality and privacy and communicating in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Excellent communication skills required to speak and write fluently in English ensuring clear and accurate understanding of instructions, information and delivery of care provided; additional languages are an asset
  • Be passionate about the chiropractic profession and committed to ongoing professional development
  • Have a strong, patient-focused approach healthcare
  • Be organized as a successful candidate will be responsible for managing and prioritizing clinical caseloads, and coordinating the delivery of therapeutic services
  • Be willing to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary care environment
  • Be friendly and work well with other professionals, division directors and our support staff
  • Open to participating in ongoing research studies in the clinic
  • Additional training in active release therapy, neuroproprioceptive taping or acupuncture are an asset
  • MVA/WSIB/Short and/or Long Term Disability experience are an asset
  • Chronic pain experience is an asset, but new graduates are also welcome

Job duties will include:

  • Responsible for the delivery of chiropractic care provided to patients with a wide variety of conditions, including strains/sprains and fractures (including accident, short/long term disability and work-related injuries), joint injuries/tears, disc herniations and stenosis, post surgical rehabilitation, neuropathic pain, postural conditions/aberrant mechanics and neurological conditions
  • Treatment techniques involving the encouragement of exercise and movement by way of manual therapy techniques, therapeutic movement and exercise therapy, massage, mobilization and electrotherapy as well as other modalities (laser, ultrasound, shockwave) that may benefit the patient
  • Use effective interpersonal skills to communicate complex and sensitive information with patients, their families and colleagues
  • Work with patients to identify physical issues and to develop and review treatment programs
  • Educate patients about how to prevent and/or improve conditions and advise on recuperative activities
  • Cooperate with patients and other members of the professional team in the planning and delivery of integrated programs
  • Assess, prescribe and monitor bracing and assistive devices to help improve mobility and activities of daily living
  • Advise and support integrated team of professionals in assessing and managing complex cases
  • Act as a resource and support to community professionals by offering specialist knowledge and skills in chiropractic where it applies to the physical needs of patients
  • Maintain audit and quality monitoring systems to ensure effective care delivery and monitor activity and service levels, to enable proper assessment of services in relation to best practice guidelines
  • Attend and participate in patient case conferences and staff meetings as required
  • Keeping up to date patient clinical notes and reports
  • Keep up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating patients
  • Liaise with other healthcare personnel to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of patients, as well as referring patients who may require additional medical services
  • Responsible for all the medical equipment used by the provider while treating in the clinic to ensure that safety guidelines are being maintained
  • Directly reporting to the physical therapy divisional team lead
  • Uphold the rules of conduct according to College of Chiropractors of Ontario
