Part 1 of this Patient Privacy series focuses on the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), which is an Ontario statute that governs the collection, use and disclosure of personal health information in the health sector. In addition to reviewing the key obligations of health information custodians under PHIPA, a summary of recently proposed amendments will be provided.
