Twelve of the Ontario Health Profession Regulatory Colleges, including the CCO, are hosting consultations to discuss the potential benefits to Ontarians of “a clinic oversight model, and what clinic regulation might look like in Ontario.”
Information provided on the Clinic Regulation Working Group’s website states: “Ontarians receive healthcare services in a number of different settings, places like hospitals, long-term care facilities, pharmacies and clinics. Some of these settings are regulated – hospitals, pharmacies, some medical and dental clinics, and long-term care facilities. However, many clinics currently have no oversight.”
The consultations will take place both online and in person, beginning with a webinar on November 18, 2015. On the same day, information about this potential oversight model will be available on the Clinic Regulation Working Group’s website. No further information is available at this time. The OCA and other associations have contacted the colleges to find out more including the potential impact on practitioners.
RSVP at at the Working Groups’s website. Please direct any questions to info@ontarioclinicregulation.com.
The OCA strongly encourages members to participate in the consultation process and to share their views.
